Spring Travel Updates: Big Wins, Dream Trips, and My Adventure to Japan

I’m so excited to finally share some personal and professional updates with you!

At the start of 2025, I set two major goals for myself:

  1. To reach Fora Advanced status as a travel advisor

  2. To officially launch my own travel business.

While it’s taken me a little while to sit down and write this (life gets busy!), I’m thrilled to say that I accomplished both in just the first few months of the year.

Fora Advanced is a big milestone — it means I’ve reached a new level among my fellow Fora Advisors after booking a significant amount of travel, receiving glowing client reviews, and building strong partnerships across the travel industry. And now? I’m aiming even higher: my next goal is to achieve Fora Pro by the end of 2025!

In February, I also officially registered my business: Tailored Travel by Lucy and created this website! I'm incredibly excited for this next chapter and so grateful to the friends, family, and clients who continue to trust me with their travel plans — from dream vacations to quick weekend getaways. The best way you can continue to support my growing business is by recommending me to anyone you know who’s considering booking travel!

What I’ve Been Booking Lately

It’s been such a fun season working on some incredible trips for my clients. Here’s a peek at what I’ve been planning:

A Dream Family Vacation to Greece

I’ve been helping a wonderful family of four plan their perfect summer getaway to Greece, blending family-friendly fun with classic Greek charm. They’ll start in Athens before heading to the islands of Paros and Naxos, where they’ll stay in a beautiful villa, take day trips, rent a private boat, and enjoy a farm-to-table cooking class.

To make it truly seamless, I’ve arranged everything — from ferry tickets to airport pickups — working closely with trusted partners in Greece to ensure they have everything they need for a smooth and unforgettable experience.

If you’re dreaming of an off-the-beaten-path Greek adventure, I’ve got you covered!

Two Magical December Honeymoons

It’s been a joy working with two couples as they plan their December honeymoons:

  • Ireland Christmas Honeymoon: One couple will be spending Christmas in a magical Irish castle! Their itinerary includes drinking Guinness at the source, visiting the Aran Islands, exploring charming villages, enjoying the lively pub culture, staying in unique hotels, and ringing in the New Year Irish-style.

  • Southeast Asia Christmas & New Year’s Honeymoon: Another couple will be splitting their holidays between Singapore, Thailand, and Cambodia. Working closely with trusted partners, I put together a seamless, worry-free trip where they can simply enjoy the journey — from visiting iconic sites to immersing themselves in local culture, exploring rivers, and relaxing on beautiful beaches.

Both of these trips are true "trips of a lifetime," and I couldn’t be more excited for these couples!

A Romantic Italian Getaway

I’ve also been working with a couple traveling to Italy this September. Their journey will take them through luxury hotels, stunning wine country, and cultural hotspots — all carefully curated to match their interests. With custom activities and seamless transfers arranged through our expert partners, their Italian adventure will be both luxurious and stress-free.

Plus So Much More!

Beyond these bigger trips, I’ve had the pleasure of helping with everything from booking accommodations for amazing lacrosse teams, consulting on upcoming travel plans, and assisting clients with curating activities around the world. Big or small — it’s always an honor to be part of your journeys!

My Most Recent Travels: Japan

Japan has been on my travel wishlist for a long time — and after a year and a half of planning, my trip finally became a reality last week!

Mt. Fuji from the Shinkansen.

Myself, Micaela and Momoko in Kyoto.

This trip was particularly special because I created the itinerary myself, with support and tips from some incredibly well-traveled friends and fellow Fora advisors. It had been nearly 10 years since I last visited Asia, so this felt like a big and exciting step back into a part of the world I love.

Even better? I got to experience it all with my best friend — we work at the same school and share the same breaks, which made a week-long adventure to Japan possible.

Our itinerary wasn’t for the faint of heart (and we knew that going in!). We wanted to experience as much as possible in a short amount of time — and we did. We averaged over 24,000 steps a day!

Here’s what we packed in:

  • Tokyo: We explored bustling neighborhoods, enjoyed a magical day at Tokyo DisneySea, and soaked in the city’s incredible energy.

  • Mount Fuji: On our Shinkansen ride to Kyoto, we caught a perfect, clear view of Mount Fuji (pro tip: sit on the right side of the train!).

  • Kyoto: We admired peaceful temples, wandered historic streets, and experienced Japan’s beautiful traditions.

  • Nara: We visited stunning temples and had a (slightly chaotic) adventure feeding the famous Nara deer.

  • Osaka: We spent a day and a half enjoying Osaka’s vibrant street life, neon lights, and delicious food.

Another major highlight: reconnecting with old friends! I met several wonderful people from Japan back when I studied abroad in Spain in 2010, and during this trip, I reunited with them — sharing dinners, drinks, and lots of laughs (mostly in Spanish!). It was so special to see Japan through their eyes.

To break up the long flights, we also planned overnight layovers in Los Angeles on both ends of the trip, visiting friends there and getting a bonus mini-trip to LA!
